Missed-call text-back

3 min · updated Jul 24, 2026

In short

Automatically text callers you miss so the lead isn't lost. When a call goes unanswered or to voicemail, Ahoya sends the caller a short SMS from your own number — separate from appointment reminders.

  1. 01Turn it on in Settings

Open Settings in your dashboard and enable “Automatically text callers we miss.” You can edit the message that goes out so it sounds like your business.

  2. 02It fires on a missed call

When a call goes unanswered or to voicemail, Ahoya texts the caller your message so a missed call becomes a conversation instead of a lost lead.

  3. 03Use a number that can send SMS

The text sends from your own number, which means it needs a number that supports SMS. The number Ahoya provisions on the trial can't send texts — connect your own SMS-capable number in Numbers to use this.

Requires a bring-your-own SMS-capable number. This is separate from appointment-reminder SMS, which are tied to confirmed bookings.

Frequently asked questions

How is this different from SMS reminders?

Missed-call text-back fires the moment you miss a call, to re-engage the lead. Appointment reminders fire an hour before a confirmed booking. They're independent features.

Why can't I send from my Ahoya trial number?

Trial numbers are voice-only and can't send SMS. Connect your own SMS-capable number under Numbers, and the text-back (and other SMS) will send from it.
